If your skin is easily irritated, red, itchy or flaky throughout the day, you may have sensitive skin.
What causes sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin is defined as the occurrence of unpleasant sensations in the skin in response to factors that are usually well tolerated by normal skin. These sensations may be caused by environmental stressors such as the sun, wind or pollution, synthetic fragrances and cosmetics, extreme hot or cold temperature changes - or perhaps your skin barrier needs a little extra TLC. If that’s the case, read our blog on taking care of your skin barrier.
Do those symptoms sound familiar? Not to worry. We’ve called on our trusted Ultra Experts to pull together their tips to help calm and soothe your sensitive skin. Here is a breakdown of what our experts recommend:
Cleanse
It’s an essential step in any skincare routine and one you want to get right. You’ll want to avoid cleansing with harsh formulas that leave your skin feeling tight and dry. Our experts pick: Ultra Calming Cleanser; a gentle, lightweight formula utilising the power of oats to cleanse the skin while keeping it calm, hydrated and pH balanced.
Cleansing tip: Gently massage over dry or damp skin in a circular motion and rinse off with a soft cloth. Double cleanse in the evening to ensure all daily residue is removed.
Correct
After a cleanse, lock in hydration to soothe and condition the skin’s natural moisturiser barrier. Our latest innovation, Ultra R.E.D.* Corrective Serum has been formulated with a unique combination of hydrating and calming ingredients that work together to visibly reduce redness and comfort stressed, sensitive skin.
How to use: Apply 2-3 pumps in the morning and night to your face and neck, following a cleanse and before your favourite moisturiser.
Moisturise
The perfect pairing to your gentle cleanser and serum? Ultra Calming Moisturiser Cream. This formula features a powerful blend of Ceramides, Prebiotics and Phytosterol to help hydrate, condition and support the skin’s protective barrier.
No matter your skin type, it’s always a good idea to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from damaging UVA and UVB radiation. Don’t forget to apply and (reapply) our SPF every 2 hours all over your face, neck and ears.
